Popular Fiesta Pet Parade -Desfile de Los Niños

For more years than anyone can remember the Fiesta de Santa Fe holds the Fiesta’s Pet Parade. This is an extremely popular event with kids and grownups alike with a history dating back to the 1920’s. Generally close to 2,000 kids in costumes walk the parade route with their pets. The event is watched by thousands of friends, families and tourists, much to everyone’s delight. The end of the event is topped by an awards ceremony on the historic Santa Fe Plaza, located at the corner of Lincoln Avenue and West Palace Avenue in downtown Santa Fe. Needless to say each year fun, and really then some, is had by everyone involved.

All members of the Santa Fe family are included in our annual commemoration of the Pet Parade. The local favorite, Desfile de Los Niños, or otherwise known as the Pet Parade has been an annual tradition since the early 1920’s. This event is free to children and citizens. About 2,000 children in costumes participate in the parade, with thousands of supporters and tourists looking on. This event culminates with an awards ceremony on the historic Plaza de Santa Fe.
