Event Calendar Santa Fe – 61st Annual Traditional Spanish Market Saturday, July 28 and Sunday, July 29

The 61st Traditional Spanish Market is set for this weekend on the Historic Santa Fe Plaza from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturday and Sunday, July 28th and 29th 2012. The event is very popular each year attracting over 70,000 visitors over the entire event. Spanish Market showcases handmade traditional art and crafts from 350 plus local Hispanic artists and crafts persons. The event also offers live music, dance, art demonstrations and food from the local region during both days.

This event is the longest and biggest juried Spanish Market in the U.S. and it attracts visitors from the world, New Mexico, and from all over the country. Artists at the event are more than glad to showcase and sell their art, but additionally they are very glad to discuss what they make and the culture connected to who they are and what they are selling. Santa Fe is known for its history, culture and abundant beauty, but it is also know for the town’s amazing restaurants, museums and places to see.  The Hispanic heritage of the area goes back over 400 years so needless to say this event and the area are rich in culture and history that cannot be found in most any other place in the U.S. .
