Zia Diner, a Santa Fe, NM, dining institution located at 326 S. Guadalupe St., serves up gypsy jazz swing band Swing Soleil from 6:30 – 8:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 24, 2014
Santa Fe restaurant Zia Diner, a special place in town considered a landmark dining institution that specializes in down home cooking and comfort food, has been delivering great food to patrons since 1986. During 2012, Zia Diner spread its wings quite a bit and added weekly entertainment for the enjoyment of diners that included the Gypsy Jazz of Swing Soleil, a weekly Tuesday bluegrass music jam and the musical melody of local singer-songwriter Eryn Bent. Each of the events are featured on SantaFe.com, Santa Fe, NM’s premier on-line visitor guide.
2013 is not only going to be the more of the same at the Zia Diner when it comes to entertainment, it’s actually going to be better with gypsy jazz band Swing Soleil playing every other Thursday for the foreseeable future starting with her first appearance from 6:30 – 8:30 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 24, 2013.
Swing Soleil plays the music of Django Reinhardt and Stephane Grappelli and swing music composed from the 1930s to 1950s. Swing Soleil consists of:
- Gemma DeRagon, violin
- Patrick Longmire, guitar
- Charlie Freeman, guitar
- Zeke Severson, double bass
The band performs compositions resembling the Hot Club of France and more recent jazz manouche ensembles performing in Europe. The music performed by Swing Soleil is rich and dynamic and is perfect for an evening of incredible listening enjoyment, not to mention the douce ambiance at the Zia Diner.
