The incredibly talented Susan Guillaume brings the one-woman show ‘King Laz’ to Santa Fe. The show was written by Guillaume and it is directed by Maura Dhu. It is set to run in the Santa Fe Playhouse on Jan. 17, Jan. 18 and Jan. 19. In the play Guillaume plays both her parents and herself as they move through some of the tougher parts of life including old age, sickness and death. As with most families, the rolls of the parents are reversed with the daughter. The parents start to succumb to old family patterns and dementia while the daughter, that tends to be easy going and free-wheeling, is overwhelmed with a new set of time demands and problems to dealt with due to the condition of the parents.
As has been the case, each time the play has been put on, the audiences see the play that mirrors its own life.
about the past, but in this case it was all happening in the moment so access to the past seemed very fluid, very easy.”
