Zia Diner is bringing in gypsy jazz band Swing Soleil from 6-8 p.m. Thurs. Mar. 28, 2013 to entertain patrons and liven things up at the end of this month. Swing Soleil is a band made up of 4 musicians which include a violinist, two acoustic guitar players and an upright bass player. They play music known as gypsy jazz which originated in France back in the 1930’s and 1940’s. Made popular by guitarist Jean “Django’ Reinhardt back in the 1930’s, this talented musician played the music known as gypsy jazz or ‘jazz manouche” all over France for many years. Played in France and in the U.S. bands brought a style of music like no other with them, making people happy wherever they went due to the fact that it has a special upbeat tempo, it makes people happy and it’s easy to listen to and enjoyable. People looking for fun things to do in Santa Fe can come by the Zia Diner twice a month to enjoy the musical magic of Swing Soleil.
