Zia Diner loves its association with local gypsy jazz band ‘Swing Soleil’. The music is great, the mood is terrific and the band features some of the very best musicians in the City of Santa Fe. For the better part of two years Swing Soleil has been playing the Zia Diner pretty much every other Thursday, much to the delight of the staff and the patrons of the company. The band plays in the bar area of the restaurant in the back right corner. The band’s Zia Diner dates in Nov. 2013 are Nov. 7 and Nov. 21. They play from 6 – 8:30 p.m. on those nights, which happen to be Thursday.
‘Jazz manouche’ or gypsy jazz as Swing Soleil’s music is also known as, comes from a bygone era from France, made popular by French musician Jean ‘Django’ Reinhardt, who play during the 1930’s and 1940’s all over Europe.
