Event Calendar Santa Fe – Zia Diner Offers Cool Jazz at The Bar May 24, 2012

Alternate Thursdays (this Thursday is ON) is Swing Soleil, in the bar, also from 6-8 or so.  They play Gypsy Jazz (kinda Parisian jazz from the 30’s) and sounded great their first evening.

Gypsy Jazz is a genre of jazz music that it’s been said was started by legendary French guitarist Jean “Django” Reinhardt in the 1930’s. Due to the fact that this type of jazz has its roots coming from France it is quite often called “jazz manouche” or “manouche jazz”.  Mr. Django was a leader in the Gypsy Jazz music scene playing is guitar from the 1930’s to the 1950’s throughout Paris.

Offering cool Gypsy Jazz music to patrons is new endeavor for the Zia Diner. Music soothes the soul and this music might just be one of the better genres to make the soul feel a little better… We look forward to every Thursday that Swing Soleil is on our music calendar.  Right now they are scheduled to play every other Thursday.  Enjoy!
