Event Calendar Santa Fe – Zia Diner Serves Up Bluegrass Jam 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday May 29

Every Tuesday is a Bluegrass Jam at the Zia Diner in the bar, from 6-8 pm.  A bunch of guys, with careers all their own, who get together to jam.  They sound good!

Bluegrass music has been part of the American music scene and is really a form of American roots music plus a sub-genre of country music , for the better part of 200 years. Bluegrass music has origins coming from the music of Appalachia with deep roots embedded from Scottish, English and Irish time-honored music. Plus it was impacted by the music sceen of African-Americans coming through and from jazz music influences.

Original immigrants from European countries such as Scotland, Wales, Ireland and England come to Appalachia during the 17th and 18th century and with them they brought their own musical traditions. Dozens of Bluegrass ballads come from Appalachia with melodies and lyrics coming mostly from England, but certainly from Ireland and Scotland.

The group that comes to play each Tuesday here at the Zia Diner are coming to jam out Bluegrass music and make the week a little more enjoyable for anyone who happens to come sit in our bar area or patio. We are so happy to have them play Bluegrass music for us and look forward to meeting and making new friends each Tuesday night here in Santa Fe.
