Swing Soleil, a fixture at the Zia Diner and its Santa Fe event calendar for the last year is at it once again from 6 – 8:30 p.m. Thursday, April 11, 2013 appearing on stage for the 7th time this year. A special musical group playing music from a bygone era, Swing Soleil makes Gypsy Jazz seem magical giving listeners an amazing experience each time to band makes plays. Jazz Manouche or Gypsy Jazz, came about during the 1930’s and 1940’s in France. The music features 4 to 5 band members including normally 2 guitar players, one violin player and one upright bass player. The music of Django Reinhardt and Stephane is swing music written and played from the mid 1930’s to the 1950’s.
